A lot of insurance companies brag about saving you money. I’ll explain in a later post how they are doing that and still making money. I want to focus on protecting yourself and your loved ones here.
Understanding Your Auto Insurance Coverages:
Have you looked at your auto insurance coverages? Pull out your automobile insurance declarations page. Look at your coverages with the below guide explaining what each is.
This is the amount of money the insurance company will pay a person you cause injury to. It is typically a smaller number/larger number (i.e. $100K/$300K), meaning the insurance company will pay up to $100K to a person injured as a result of your negligence and up to $300K in any one accident. So if there are three injured persons, each could get paid up to $100K.
This is the amount that the insurance company will pay to someone else for damage you cause to their vehicle (or other property).
This is the amount that the insurance company will pay YOUR DOCTORS for treatment YOU NEED from the accident.
This is the amount that the insurance company will pay YOU if the person that causes injury to YOU does not have insurance or has a policy that is less than the number listed.
This is the amount that the insurance company will pay YOU for damage someone else causes damage to YOUR vehicle.
This is the amount that the insurance company will pay YOU for damage someone else causes damage to YOUR vehicle.
